Sketches from the August sketchbook

Sketches made at a post-Symposium party organised by Mdm Tia to remember the occasion. The team for USK Singapore Symposium has done a really tremendous job in putting everything together. Its a feat and it is definitely rewriting USK history. I was a helper in the symposium but I was really happy to meet up with so many international urban sketchers. I will post my sketches from the symposium soonest.

A Toast Box server - she is from China but has been in Singapore for many years. She shared her experiences working and living here but couldn't stop talking about how China has changed in the recent years. She said many Chinese nationals have lost their values that Chairman Mao has taught when he was ruling China. One of the thing she dislikes most is how Chinese became more self centred and have taken the "all man for himself" route. Isn't this the result of urbanisation and economic growth? It happens everywhere.

I have taken up a project to draw Joo Chiat (a USK related kind of job) so these sketches serve as research drawings done while I was strolling up and down Changi Road and Joo Jiat area.

The drawing on the left was done on a Samsung Galaxy tablet. I do not own one but once in a while if I passed by a Samsung shop, I will stop by a Samsung tablet to try it out. Then I will take a pix of what I drew on it for the record.
