Location sketching or painting in a hot and humid climate is unimaginably hard, even when you have your hat on. Personally I don't like wearing hat as I will get really hot and sweaty inside; eventually I'll get helmet hair which is always an ugly sight. (Ok I'm vain). Guys don't sketch with an umbrella, so carrying one in addition to all the gears I carry for outdoor sketching is out of the question. So with the scorching and blazing sun over our heads, finding a shady location is vital to enjoying the sketching experience. But shady spots with the best vantage point are scarce. Furthermore, I feel silly sketching or drawing under the sun. Anyway, coffeeshops eventually become my shady spots where I could sit, drink and sketch in comfort all at the same time. That's how coffee and sketching becomes inseparable.... :D
